Support for patients with Pemphigus and Pemphigoid and their carers
On 30th November 2022 we were extremely pleased to have Dr Roddy McMillan come and talk to us about the painful effects of pemphigus and pemphigoid in the mouth.
Dr MacMillan is an expert on the topics of oral pain and has co-authored academic papers on the effects of Autoimmune Blistering Diseases on the mouth. Dr MacMillan is currently a consultant and honorary clinical fellow in oral medicine and facial pain at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals. He is also president of the Council of the British & Irish Society for Oral Medicine.
Dr McMillan was introduced to us by a very satisfied patient and PEM Friend Sandra.
Everyone who attended enjoyed the talk and learned more about how to manage the pain caused by blisters and erosions in the mouth. We would like to thank Dr McMillan for both his time and his knowledge in this area that is of such interest to many of us.
Dr Mcmillan is a consultant and honorary clinical fellow in oral medicine and facial pain at the Eastman Dental Clinic, University College London Hospitals and treats patients with oral disease and facial pain as well as being involved in his research and clinical teaching work.
As well as this, he is the Health Education England (HEE) training program director for oral medicine in London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex. And if this isn’t enough, he sits on the UK specialty advisory committee (SAC) for oral medicine.
